Creating Change Without Spilling Your Guts
Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) is a rapid and effective non-disclosure therapy, which uses eye movement techniques to create change.
Integral Eye Movement Therapy is beneficial for addressing grief, loss, anxiety, depression, negative thinking, phobias, and traumatic life experiences.
IEMT aims to bring about quick changes without individuals needing to discuss distressing events. This therapy explores how we learn to feel about undesirable emotions and thinking styles.
I incorporate IEMT into my practice as a counsellor. It is a part of my therapeutic toolkit, helping individuals create the desired and lasting changes they want.
How does IEMT work?
Throughout our lives, memories and life experiences are contained in our minds, these inform who we are, our current way of being, behaviours, reactions, responses and how we feel. Some are buried within our subconscious mind, the part of our mind we cannot readily access, however, such memories play a huge role in our everyday life, without us even being aware.
IEMT works by using eye movement to access specific neurological pathways. Memories become imprints in our mind, which become stuck, furthermore, leading to unpleasant emotions such as anger, anxiety, low mood, depression and so on. When eye movement is carried out, in addition to unhelpful behaviours and responses to ourselves and others, it can cause damage. When the eye movement is carried out, along with focusing on the memory, the stored imprint is processed, eliciting change to the emotional coding.

There are no fixed number of sessions, you are in control and can end whenever you feel appropriate. We would request notice prior to ending so we can end the therapeutic relationship accordingly.
